Two suspects arrested in Kamloops assault

Two suspects have been arrested in relation to an assault with a weapon that sparked a large police presence in Kamloops earlier today.

Several Kamloops RCMP officers were called to the 1700 block of Parkcrest Avenue at approximately 12:30 p.m. today, Feb. 28, where a suspect was believed to have assaulted and threatened a person with what looked like a firearm before fleeing the scene.

Two suspects were arrested, according to an RCMP media release.

Both were known to police and one had an unendorsed warrant related to a previous robbery in Kamloops.

The suspects are being held in custody as the investigation continues, RCMP said.

Charge recommendations are anticipated.

RCMP don't say what those charges might be.

Anyone with information or video footage relating to the investigation is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-5974.
