An armed suspect robbed a Kamloops convenience store on Wednesday afternoon and police are looking for a suspect.

A man walked into the Columbia Street store wielding a handgun and demanded cash, lottery tickets and energy drinks around 4:40 p.m., June 8.

“Officers arrived on scene almost immediately, but the culprit fled on a bike into a residential area,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn of Kamloops RCMP said in a news release.

Police dogs were able to find evidence, which was unspecified in the news release, but the suspect was gone.

Police did not say what the man was able to steal before leaving the scene.

It's the third armed robbery in Kamloops since Sunday, and the second to happen during the day. Just two days earlier, a store on the 1200 block of Summit Drive was robbed at gunpoint, but after searching the area, they only found the clothes he left behind and a pellet gun.

“The time of day that both these robberies occurred is typically when we see lots of pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the community,” Evelyn said.

A store along Tranquille Road was robbed on Sunday, June 5, just before 8 p.m.

Police are not aware if the two robberies are related, according to the release.

The Wednesday afternoon robbery suspect is described as a 6-foot tall Caucasian male with short hair. At the time, he was wearing a blue hat, white tank top and dark pants. He had white and black shoes, along with a grey and black backpack with a "small red logo."

He also had a red bandana on during the robbery.
