Two Merritt men busted with drugs, weapons

MERRITT – Merritt RCMP are still working out all the charges that will be filed against two men arrested during, and after a raid at a residence on Merritt Avenue.

Police executed a search warrant on Nov. 1 where they found a male asleep, according to an RCMP media release. He was arrested, along with another male they later located and arrested for trafficking.

A search of the residence revealed several weapons including a machete, baseball bats, a Taser stun gun, an air soft replica pistol and a loaded .22 calibre handgun that had been previously reported as stolen, police say.

About 2.7 kilograms of cannabis, 160 grams of heroin, 310 grams of cocaine and 66 grams of methamphetamine were found along with scales, about $3,500 in cash along with a large quantity of coins.

RCMP says Federal Crown Counsel will be consulted on what drug and firearms charges will be laid in relation to this incident.
