TRENDING NOW: Kelowna hockey academy player scores in overtime with breakaway wraparound

Hockey players don’t often try the wraparound when they get a breakaway, but Cameron Schmidt, a forward on the RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna U18 team, thought it might be worth a try.

It was overtime in the playoffs during a home game against Edge School U18 Prep from Calgary.

Schmidt already scored twice in regulation.

When he got another chance on a clear breakaway, he brought the goalie out of position by deking, but instead of shooting from a tricky angle, he carried the puck around the net to slide it in from the other side.

Schmidt was drafted 7th overall in the WHL last year by the Vancouver Giants.
