The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has released portions of a six-figure settlement agreement with former chief administrative officer Sukh Gill.

Gill left the position in February for reasons that are not disclosed and the regional district said in a media release issued today, May 1, the settlement totalled $346,723.44, including applicable benefits. Gill received a 20-month salary continuance, representing approximately one month for each year of his service with the district.

The final settlement agreement also included a provision stating that Gill’s departure would be announced as a retirement.

“The (Thompson-Nicola Regional District) board of directors did its utmost to secure a fair and final resolution of disputed claims in a manner that best serves the interests of the residents,” reads the media release issued by Ken Gillis, Thompson-Nicola Regional District chair. “We regret not being able to disclose all relevant information from the outset, but we are prohibited by law from doing so.”

The release states no further information will be released to the public.
