Thunderstorms a possibility in Kamloops today

There is a risk of a thunderstorm in Kamloops this afternoon.

A spring-like weather pattern is expected to bring a thunderstorm to the region today and make for a showery start to the weekend in Kamloops.

City residents can look forward to a mix of weather conditions over the next few days, along with temperatures around or slightly below the seasonal mark. There is the prospect of a warming trend starting early next week that could see temperatures back in the 20s by Tuesday.

For today, April 23, Environment Canada is calling for a 40 per cent chance of showers under mostly cloudy skies and a high of 16 Celsius.

There is also a thunderstorm risk this afternoon and evening.

The possibility of showers continues into this evening with tonight’s low dipping to 5 C.

Friday should see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 19 C, and a low of 8 C.

The weekend is expected to start with a 60 per cent chance of showers on Saturday under cloudy skies and cooler temperatures, with Saturday’s high expected at 15 C.

The showers are expected to continue overnight with a low of 4 C.

A sun cloud mix is anticipated on Sunday, but it will remain on the cool side with a high of 13 C and a low of 8 C, as a 40 per cent chance of showers return for Sunday night.

Starting the work week, Monday should be a sun cloud mix with a high of 18 C, with highs of 21 C and 24 C expected Tuesday and Wednesday, also under a sun and cloud mix.

The normal high and low for Kamloops at this time of year is 18 C and 4 C.
