Three more pot shops heading to Vernon?

VERNON - Three more pot shops could be heading to Vernon if the City gives them the green light.

Vernon council is set to vote on whether to approve three more non-medical cannabis stores at its July 29 meeting. If the City approves the applications it will take the total number of applications to open cannabis stores to 15.

The proposed locations for the stores are; in the same building as Toro's Liquor Store at 1220 Kalamalka Lake Road, 107-5301 25 Avenue, near By-Low Foods and E520 4400 32 street, near London Drugs.

If the City gives the pot shops the okay, the applications will then have to be authorized by the provincial government.

So far only one cannabis store has opened in Vernon, Spiritleaf, which opened its doors July 1. Another pot shop, The Greenhorn is set to open next week next to the Longhorn Pub.

Another cannabis store Terra Vida Wellness opened on Okanagan Indian Band land next to Vernon Region Airport opened in June.

The number of pot shops allowed in the city has been widely discussed by Vernon council, who passed a bylaw earlier this year prohibiting more than five cannabis stores to open within the downtown core.
