Three fishermen will pay a high price for overfishing a blue-listed species near Revelstoke on the weekend.

The three men received fines totalling $1,740 after members of the Conservation Officer Service found two Revelstoke men and one Golden man exceeding their limits for daily quotas and possession limits for bull trout. The men had also dressed the fish in a way that prevented the exact number from being determined.

Eleven fish and related fishing gear was seized Sunday, April 11.

Bull trout are currently blue-listed and are susceptible to being over-harvested in early spring.

Conservation officers were able to donate 36 pounds of seized fish to the Golden Food Bank, a post on the Conservation Officer Facebook page said.

Thirty-six pounds of bull trout was seized and donated to those in need by Conservation officers yesterday, April 11, 2021.
