Spring is here and the snow is melting, meaning Thompson-Okanagan ski resorts will soon stop lift operations for their winter season.

Currently, Big White Ski Resort is planning to be open the longest, closing roughly a week after other resorts in the region.

Big White Ski Resort

At Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna, the resort closes April 11 for the season.

The resort will be mostly sunny today with snow in the forecast for Sunday overnight, March 28, according to the resort’s website.

The alpine snow base is currently measured at 248 centimetres.

Apex Mountain Ski Resort

The last day to ski or snowboard at Apex Mountain Ski Resort is on April 5. The resort is currently reporting a base of 266 cm as of today, March 27.

Warmer temperatures and a good base make perfect skiing conditions this weekend, according to the resort.

Silver Star Mountain Resort

Silver Star will be closing April 5 for the season. It’s snow base is currently 199 cm and the weekend begins with sunny skies before clouds arrive Saturday night, according to the resort.

The snow will arrive by Sunday morning when the cold front moves across the region.

Sun Peaks Ski Resort

Lift operations at Sun Peaks Ski Resort near Kamloops will shut down April 5, according to the resort.

A mix of sun and cloud with a chance of a late day shower or flurry is expected this afternoon.

The resort currently has a alpine base of 215 cm.

Social distancing and COVID-19 safety measures are in place at all ski resorts in the region.

For more information on COVID-19 safety protocols, visit each ski resort’s website.
