For the last 12 weeks, a Vernon man has decided to try and change the narrative of a COVID-19 denial rally happening weekly outside of Polson Park.

A group of protestors have been a regular occurrence at the corner of the park along Highway 97 during the pandemic but Korry Zepik decided to bring signs of his own after conversations with them led him to debunk their conspiracy theories around vaccines and the pandemic.

“There’s a destructive narrative being put out at Polson Park and I need to counter that,” he said.

He said he started creating the signs after seeing many of the people involved in anti-COVID-19 restriction trucker rallies were also denying the human influence on climate change, a topic close to his heart since the 1980s, he said.

“These people were basically putting out the same message over a slightly different subject and in my mind this is the biggest drawback, the biggest thing stopping humans from moving forward, from having a planet that could like for a few more eons with people happily on it. This mindset is stopping us from moving forward from having a sustainable world,” Zepik said.

His signs aim to counter the Action4Canada narrative that claims yoga opens your body to satanic possession with signs that say “yoga is not an evil plot” and “this rally lacks logic.”

He wants to bring awareness to the issue and spark action towards pushing back against the conspiracy theories and political witch hunts.

You can find him with his signs on Saturday afternoons outside of Polson Park for as long as the other protests continue.
