This is who's running for city council so far

Candidates are biding for a seat around the council table.

PENTICTON - There is a growing list of candidates bidding for a spot on city council and there's still almost two months until ballots are cast.

Coun. John Vassilaki and Coun. Andrew Jakubeit are both giving up their council seats for a chance at being mayor, and former councillor Wes Hopkin's seat is also vacant. So far they are the only mayoral candidates — Mayor Garry Litke is waiting until Oct. 7 to announce whether he will run for reelection or not.

Coun. Katie Robinson and Coun. Helena Konanz have both confirmed they are running for re-election but Coun. Judy Sentes is still on the fence. She says she’s leaning towards running but will announce her final decision next week.

There’s a growing list of competition for council seats and the wait isn’t over yet. City Hall is accepting nominations until Oct. 10.

Konanz and Robinson (and possibly Sentes) will be up against Andre Martin, Lynn Kelsey, Vic Powell, David Korinetz, Tarik Sayeed, and Steve Boltbee.
