A 14-year-old girl is dead after a jet ski crash on Skaha Lake near Penticton.

Two jet skis crashed into each other which resulted in four youths sustaining serious injuries, according to a release from the Penticton RCMP. Police were called to the scene around 8 p.m. last night, Aug. 4.

The victims’ family transported them to the Skaha Marina via boat where off-duty doctors and paramedics attempted life saving measures on all four youths.

“Tragically one of the victims, a 14-year-old female from Alberta, succumbed to her injuries at hospital,” Sgt. Paul Bentham said in the release. “The three remaining youth have all been treated for non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released from hospital.”

RCMP Victim Services is supporting the family and arrangements are being made to help them in returning to Alberta.

Criminality is not suspected and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
