Taste some local wines, take in an art show this weekend

PENTICTON - Wine tasting, the arts and the opening of a new non-profit designed to encourage affordable housing provide some options for this to do this weekend.

The April wine tasting schedule at the VQA Information Centre in Penticton presents the wines of Nobel Ridge Winery in Okanagan Falls and Lang Vineyards from Naramata.

Tastings take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 28 at the VQA Information Centre, 553 Vees Dr.

Many Hats Theatre Company presents the Art of Murder Friday, April 12 through Sunday, April 15 with 8 p.m. performances on Friday and Saturday and a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee. Cost is $22 for students and seniors, $25 for adults, at the Many Hats Theatre stage at1475 Fairview Rd. in Penticton. For more information call 250-460-1842.

Victoria Mitchell presents her art at the Front Street Gallery in Penticton in the “Extensions” art show, Friday, April 27 through Sunday, April 29, starting at noon. For more information contact Diane Way at 778-476-0016.

Penticton’s Habitat for Humanity celebrates its grand opening this weekend.

The new Penticton location is an affiliate of the Habitat for Humanity Canada, a non-profit organization working towards a world where everyone has a comfortable and safe place to live. Ribbon cutting takes place at 10 a.m. at the Habitat for Humanity Penticton location at 2498 Skaha Lake Rd.

Hot dogs are available by donation from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. along with hourly draws to win gift certificates. The Restore, Habitat for Humanity’s non-profit home improvement store, will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call 778-755-4346.
