Suspect in suspicious death of Shuswap woman released from custody

RCMP have released a man without charge as the investigation continues into a woman's suspicious death in the Shuswap earlier this week.

Chase RCMP officers were dispatched shortly after 11:30 p.m, April 27, to a home in the 8600 block of Holding Road near Adams Lake. Once on scene first responders found a deceased woman inside the home, according to an RCMP press release.

Investigators were back on the scene of the woman's death earlier today, April 29, continuing their examination of the property.

"That scene, just south of Adams Lake, has been released by authorities and is no longer being secured by police," RCMP Southeast District spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in the release. "The adult man, arrested by front line officers at the scene, has now been released from police custody.

"He was released unconditionally without charge and the investigation is continuing."

Major crime investigators continue to consider the circumstances in which the 60-year-old woman died as suspicious.

RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service will be working to officially classify the woman’s death as they advance their concurrent investigations.
