ST. ANDREWS, Man. - A 15-year-old boy in Manitoba is dead after police say he was struck by a stolen vehicle while riding his bicycle.

RCMP say the boy was cycling with another 15-year-old on the shoulder of a road in Rural Municipality of St. Andrews, north of Winnipeg, late Friday night when a vehicle went off the roadway and hit them.

Police say the boys were thrown into the ditch by the impact.

One boy was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is in stable condition.

Police say the vehicle was disabled in the ditch and the driver fled the scene, but officers were able to track him down with a dog and arrest him.

Investigators say the vehicle was stolen from Winnipeg, and the 29-year-old suspect from Calgary faces numerous charges.

Police say driving while impaired by drugs is considered to be a factor in the collision.
