Mounties in Vernon arrested a 30-year-old Alberta man after identifying him as a suspect in a pair of break-ins.
Two businesses on 27 Street in Vernon reported overnight break-ins on the morning of Friday, March 22, according to a press release from RCMP.
RCMP don't identify the businesses.
Vernon RCMP’s forensic team investigated the scene and “substantial damage” was caused during the break-ins.
“Frontline officers did a great job in tracking down video surveillance of the areas from neighbouring businesses,” Vernon RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Tania Finn said in the release. “Not only is this valuable piece of evidence of the offences, but in this case, it led to the identity of the suspect.”
Officers spotted the suspect in a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot and arrested him around 6:30 p.m. that day.
The Alberta man is still in custody on two counts of break and enter with intent, and police are still investigating.
