Summerlanders are unable to dial 911 from their landlines because of a mischief-maker, police say.
A suspect has caused over $10,000 worth of damage by causing mischief to internet and television equipment, according to an RCMP press release.
The ability to call 911 from a landline – which police say is more important than the cost of the damage – is jeopardized until the equipment is fixed.
“Summerland RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance for any information that may lead to the identification of a suspect,” Cpl. Sean Hall of Summerland RCMP said in the release.
“Keeping the 911 lines up and running is our number one priority.”
To share tips with the police call the Summerland RCMP at 250-494-7416 or be anonymous through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.crimestoppers.net.
