Vernon RCMP are investigating following a suspicious incident at a local elementary school yesterday involving a 10-year-old and a stranger.
RCMP said in a media release around the time of the dismissal bell at 2:30 p.m. yesterday, Oct. 11, a child was approached by an unknown man on the playground at Harwood Elementary School and had their arm grabbed. The man then asked the child to go with him.
The child pulled away, went home and told a parent, police said. The child wasn't injured.

"Frontline officers immediately responded to the report and conducted extensive patrols for the individual, however, a suspect was not located," Vernon RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski said in the release.
"We're continuing to conduct neighbourhood canvasses in the area and our school resource officer is engaged and working along side our partners at School District 22 to ensure the safety of our students."
The man is described as a tall, older Caucasian male with grey hair. He was wearing a brown shirt with a rip and blue jean overalls.
Anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, or has information about this incident, is asked to contact the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171.
