Stolen vehicle returned to owner with no damage: Salmon Arm RCMP

Salmon Arm RCMP officers quickly arrested a would-be thief and returned the vehicle in pristine condition, a rare occurrence, this morning.

A vehicle was stolen with keys in it this morning, June 2, within the 2400 block of Golf Course Drive in Blind Bay. RCMP officers were able to quickly find the vehicle after seeing it multiple times, said Staff Sgt. Scott West, with the detachment.

“The vehicle was recovered with no damage,” West said, adding you don’t usually hear about a vehicle recovery with no damage.

“We only had a five minute time delay before it travelled from point A to point B type thing before we managed to find it.”

The five responding officers were able to track the vehicle to an address on 50 Street where the man they believe stole the vehicle was found with the black 2005 Chrysler 300.

A 29-year-old man, who has no fixed address but is not from the Blind Bay or Salmon Arm area, was arrested.

Further investigation revealed the man was under court imposed conditions to not be in a vehicle without the owner present and had warrants from Saskatchewan, RCMP said.

The man is presently in police custody as the investigation continues to determine if additional charges are warranted. The owner of the car is appreciative of the efforts and the recovery of his vehicle with no damage, RCMP said.
