Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (13,312.78 up 32.06 points):

Baja Mining Corp. (TSX:BAJ). Miner. Unchanged at half a cent on 5.83 million shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up three cents, or 0.62 per cent, at $4.86 on 5.04 million shares.

Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Insurer. Down 14 cents, or 0.69 per cent, at $20.20 on 4.96 million shares.

Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Oil and gas. Up eight cents, or 0.22 per cent, at $35.81 on 4.67 million shares.

Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Miner. Up 63 cents, or 3.85 per cent, $17.01 on 4.27 million shares.

Toronto Venture Exchange (902.07 down 14.58 points):

Alexander Energy Ltd. (TSXV:ALX). Oil and gas. Up two cents, or 3.64 per cent, at 57 cents on 23.16 million shares.

Rusoro Mining Ltd. (TSXV:RML). Miner. Unchanged at 2.5 cents on 7.37 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

BCE Inc. (TSX:BCE). Media and telecommunications. Up 24 cents, or 0.52 per cent, at $46.80 on 1.02 million shares. The media and telecom giant and the National Football League have signed a multi-year extension of their broadcast partnership that will see more NFL games on more channels and give Bell digital media rights. Terms of the agreement weren't released.

Equal Energy Ltd. (TSX:EQU). Oil and gas. Down a penny, or 0.17 per cent, at $5.73 on 565,672 shares. The company has entered into a definitive agreement to be bought up by Petroflow Energy Corporation and Petroflow Canada Acquisition Corp. for $5.43 a share, with a total transaction value of about US$230 million.

Guyana Goldfields Inc. (TSX:GUY). Miner. Up four cents, or 2.50 per cent, at $1.64 on 103,043 shares. The company revised up the total capital cost of its Aurora Gold project to US$249 million and approved a spending plan to bring it to commercial production.
