HAMILTON — Canadian-born Woobens Pacius scored in the 66th minute, striker Sam Surridge scored five minutes into stoppage time, and Nashville Soccer Club edged Atletico Ottawa 2-0 in the opening game of their two-leg, first round CONCACAF Champions Cup matchup on Tuesday at Hamilton Stadium.

Nashville SC, which plays in Major League Soccer, outshot the hosts 17-6 (6-1 on target) and took 10 of the match's 14 fouls. Nashville also had five corners.

Atletico Ottawa, which plays in the Canadian Premier League, had more ball possession (54 per cent to 46) in its inaugural Champions Cup match and first-ever game against an MLS team.

The first leg was played at Hamilton Stadium due to ongoing renovations at TD Place in Ottawa as part of the Lansdowne 2.0 renovations.

Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Geodis Park in Nashville, Tenn.

The winner moves on to play Lionel Messi and Inter Miami in the second round.
