KAMLOOPS – A 23-year-old man was killed in a rollover on Highway 5 north of Kamloops early Sunday morning and speed was likely a factor.

RCMP say the victim was the only one in the southbound car when it left the highway near Heffley Creek and flipped several times before coming to rest around 5:10 a.m., July 26. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“While the cause of the collision has not been confirmed, speed is believed to be a contributing factor,” Sgt. Michael Buxton-Carr says in a media release.

The Kamloops RCMP Traffic Services Unit and the B.C. Coroners Service are both investigating.

The victim’s name and hometown have not been released.
