TORONTO - Portland Timbers captain Will Johnson has been chosen Canada's male soccer player of the year.
It's been a banner season for Johnson, who was voted to Major League' Soccer Best XI team this year.
Johnson led the Timbers to a first-place finish in MLS's Western Conference with a 14-5-15 record.
Canada's female player of the year will be announced Friday.
The awards, sponsored by BMO, are decided in a vote by Canadian media, coaches and clubs.
