The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will be putting on a show in Penticton as part of the 75th anniversary of Peachfest.
The renowned pilots will perform, Aug. 3, in Penticton, which was one of 24 locations to make it onto the 2022 tour schedule, along with cities in New York, Florida and California.
“They’ll be performing opening night,” said Don Kendall, president of Peachfest.
The event had to be completely cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic. Organizers were able to plan a scaled-down one-day celebration last August – dubbed the Mini Peach – and that was held right before a new wave of COVID caused public gatherings to be cancelled in B.C.
“At the time we didn’t know it would be the only event of the summer,” he said

To celebrate the 75th milestone anniversary, and after two summers of little or no festivals, Kendall said this will be "the biggest and best Peachfest ever.”
“We’re really excited about coming back and hopefully the COVID restrictions will allow us to put on a great show for everybody," he said.
Asked why Penticton seems to be a favourite spot for the Snowbirds, Kendall said they feel welcome in the city because of "huge" crowds that come out to see them.
“They always told us they love coming here,” he said.
But as much as the pilots enjoy coming to Penticton, Kendall said the show is only possible thanks to the sponsor Peters Bros. Construction.
“Without them the Snowbirds wouldn’t be coming," he said.
