The Kamloops Farmer’s Market is a bi-weekly market that beautifully showcases the bounty from the surrounding areas of the Thompson Valley.

The big market happens on Saturdays with around 100 vendors on site selling their products. Wednesday mornings downtown, there is a second market with a smaller selection of vendors. The vibe here is fun and the community shines with its colourful characters and vibrant farming and arts community.

The Wednesday market is set on the 200 block of St. Paul Street where the fruit and vegetable stands and food artisan vendors are featured. The lovely grassy area of the Stuart Wood schoolyard is where the crafters are organized as well as some of the food vendors. Here you will find a range of stands from puppeteers to a coffee pop-up making fresh donuts.

The Kamloops area is rich in fertile agricultural land. The Thompson Rivers Basin area supports a wide range of crops including fruits and vegetables. The diverse climate of the region supports major crops like alfalfa, hay, vegetables and fruit and the landscape also offers prime conditions for beef production that accounts for 85-90% of total agricultural acres.

The Kamloops Farmer’s Market was launched in 1978 and has continued to thrive and expand as our local food systems are tested by international shipping and food contamination issues. The village mentality of shopping local and supporting local businesses has thankfully become part of our culture.
