Kamloops and the Okanagan can expect snowfall later today, and potentially again towards the end of the week.

Snow is expected in Kamloops this afternoon, Nov. 9, and in the Okanagan later this evening, Environment Canada meteorologist Doug Lundquist said.

No special weather statements or snowfall warnings have been issued for the southern Interior, but uncommon mid-fall snowfall has prompted warnings in the Lower Mainland and several areas of northern B.C.

"It could easily be five to 10 centimetres, maybe more over the higher terrain," he said. "It will end overnight in Kamloops, whereas in the Okanagan it might last for a few hours after the morning commute."

Going forward, a pattern will develop of temperatures above zero during the day and below freezing at night.

This makes for icy conditions on the roads at all elevations, so drivers can expect winter driving conditions.

"There is potential for another storm Thursday into Friday in this pattern, and maybe a little warmer after that into the weekend," Lundquist said.

He recommends all commuters to keep an eye on the Drive B.C. website for updates on road conditions.
