It’s hard to believe that less than a week ago Kamloops and Okanagan residents were basking in sunshine and record breaking warm temperatures.

South Okanagan residents at higher elevations woke up to snow this morning as a low pressure system brought cold temperatures and significant rain to the southern part of the valley.

There’s a 70 per cent chance of rain for the rest of the Okanagan today, June 7, before a clearing trend begins later this afternoon.

The much needed rain in the south comes with a drastic drop in temperatures compared to last week, with highs of 17 Celsius to 19 C expected in Kamloops and the Okanagan today.

Kamloops may not see any moisture at all today with only a 30 per cent possibility of showers in the forecast. The city is looking at a 40 per cent chance of showers tomorrow, however, under a mix of sun and clouds.

The Okanagan should see mostly sunny skies and highs of 21 C in Vernon and Kelowna tomorrow, 22 C in Penticton.

The rest of the week is expected to be mostly dry, with a mix of sun and cloud and temperatures close to seasonal averages.

Showers could return to the Okanagan Friday night, with a mix of sun and cloud and temperatures rising into the upper 20s by the end of the weekend.

Kamloops should be mostly dry after tomorrow, with a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures rising from 18 C today to 27 C by Sunday.

The normal high and low for Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton in early June are 23 C and 9 C, while Kamloops normally sees a high of 24 C and a low of 11 C.
