B.C. Wildfire crews are attending to a small wildfire northeast of Keremeos which is expected to be out at some point this afternoon, according to a B.C. Wildfire information officer.

The wildfire, which was discovered Aug. 14, is roughly five-by-five metres in size and an initial attack crew is on scene today looking for hot spots before they call it out, said Kyla Fraser, fire information officer.

The fire, located to the north of Taylor Lake, is suspected to be human-caused, she said.

Residents on social media also reported a small fire in the Wood Lake area in the Central Okanagan last night, but wildfire crews were unable to locate any smoke or a fire, she said.

B.C. Wildfire crews will be preparing for the hot weather this weekend, with the possibility of lightning on Sunday night, she said.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for this weekend.
