A Scotch Creek man, who was wanted out of Penticton, was caught in Tk’emlúps during a suspicious vehicle investigation earlier this week.

Matthew Duewan Gilmore, 42, from Scotch Creek has been arrested and held for court on numerous charges out of Penticton.

Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP received a report about a suspicious truck in the 1200-block of Kootenay Way around 1 p.m. Monday, March 3, according to a press release from police.

“During the investigation, officers discovered the vehicle, an older model Ford 350 pickup truck, was one of two that had been recently stolen out of Chase,” Kamloops RCMP media liaison Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

“Two men on the property were detained, one of which apparently provided a false name and soon after attempted to flee from police. He was quickly taken back into custody, following a brief foot pursuit.”

Police discovered Gilmore had warrants out of Penticton for assault of a police officer with a weapon, obstruction of a police officer, flight from police, dangerous operation of a vehicle and possession of stolen property.

The stolen truck was recovered. The investigation into its theft is separate and ongoing.

Anyone with information has been asked to call Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP at 250-314-1800.
