VERNON - The Vernon area will serve as the backdrop for a Second World War action thriller set in Italy.
Okanagan Film Commissioner Jon Summerland says he’s thrilled that Enderby Entertainment is bringing another film to the area.
“Once again we are very pleased to have another production brought to the Okanagan by Enderby Entertainment,” Summerland says in a press release. “When film and TV companies keep coming back to the Okanagan to shoot we know we are doing the right things to attract their return.”
News about the film Peace has been circulating for some time already and a casting call was made in mid-November for extras. The official release from the film commission includes some new details, however, such as the stars of the movie.
Peace will feature actors Alexander Ludwig (from Vikings, Swerve, Hunger Games and the Enderby Entertainment produced Blackway) and Sam Keeley (of The Cured, Megan Leavey, The Seige of Jadotville, Burnt and In the Heart of the Sea.)
Directed by Robert Port, the story follows “four American soldiers set out on the gruelling ascent of an Italian mountainside in the closing days of the Second World War, haunted by their evil sergeant's cold-blooded murder of a young woman and with an old Italian man of uncertain loyalties as their guide,” according to the release. It is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Richard Bausch.
Rick Dugdale, of Enderby Entertainment, says he’s looking forward to working with Port on the adaptation of the novel.
“WW2 films are always a fascinating lens of history, and this morality tale is now more relevant than ever,” Dugdale says in the release.
Peace is being produced by Enderby’s Rick Dugdale (An Ordinary Man, Intrigo Trilogy) and Richard Bullock. Maury Povich and Alexander Ludwig will serve as Executive Producers.
