PENTICTON - Family and friends of Roxanne Louie are not going to let her memory fade.
Members of the family as well as the Okanagan Nation Alliance will stage a rally in front of Penticton courthouse on Jan. 28 as the trial for the accused gets underway.
The rally will be similar to one that took place prior to the first appearance of Grace Elinor Robotti and Pier Louis Robotti, both accused in the murder of Roxanne Louis earlier this month.
“We understand that the accused will only be appearing on video, but family members will be in court for every stage of the proceedings,” said family media spokesperson Laurie Wilson.
“We want to ensure that Roxanne’s death has meaning. We are going to keep her name at the forefront as a call for justice,” said Wilson. “Aboriginal women can’t automatically say there will be justice for us - hundreds of missing women prove that. We are adamant, we want answers, we want to know what happened to Roxanne - we want justice."
The rally is expected to get underway at 10 a.m. in front of Penticton Courthouse.
