KAMLOOPS - RCMP is investigating a missing small aircraft which had two people, including a Kamloops man, on board.
Cranbrook RCMP says in a news release that RCMP were notified around 6:20 p.m. June 8 that a small aircraft had left Cranbrook shortly after 3 p.m. and did not arrive at its destination in Kamloops.
Victoria's Joint Search Co-ordination Centre was notified. They determined the plane originally left Lethbridge, Alta. around 9:30 a.m. and made a re-fueling stop in Cranbrook.
That was the last known point of contact with the aircraft and occupants, RCMP says. The Piper aircraft call letters are "CGDTK."
Kamloops man Alex Simons, 21, was piloting the plane and he was accompanied by Lethbridge woman Sydney Robillard, 21.
Anyone with information on this matter is asked to contact their local RCMP detachment.
