Mounties appeal for information in Richmond's first murder of 2014

RICHMOND, B.C. - A man is dead in Richmond, B.C., and homicide investigators say it's the first slaying of the year in that Vancouver suburb.

Integrated Homicide Investigation Team Sgt. Adam MacIntosh says officers were called to an area along the Steveston Highway, not far from No. 3 Road, at about 4 Monday afternoon.

He says a critically injured man died at the scene, although officers aren't saying what caused his death.

The man's name has not been released.

MacIntosh says the killing may have been targeted but police are still confirming that, and add it's too early to say if the case is gang-related.

Investigators are appealing for information from anyone who may have been in the south-central Richmond neighbourhood between No. 3 and No. 4 roads at around the time of the incident.
