PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP are reminding residents of the South Okanagan marijuana continues to be a controlled substance, subject to RCMP enforcement following a raid on Herbal Green Apothecary in Okanagan Falls yesterday.

Police spokesperson Const. James Grandy says police found upwards of 100 lbs. of marijuana and marijuana edibles after executing a search warrant on the establishment, located at 936 Main St. in Okanagan Falls on May 30.

Grandy says the investigation has confirmed the dispensary was operating without a license to sell marijuana and anyone from the public could purchase the drug without a medical license to do so.

There is currently no legal method of selling marijuana through a storefront operation, Grandy says.

“The marijuana seized from this dispensary was openly sold to anyone who walked into the store, regardless if they had a medical use license or not. There are legal methods of obtaining the drug, which don’t require people to walk into a non-licensed establishment,” Grandy says.

Police were particularly concerned with edible products available, some of which were labelled, “The best high you’ve ever had.”

“This is clearly not marketed toward those in medical need to use,” Grandy says.
