Remains found in Quesnel confirmed to be that of missing man

Mounties in Quesnel say 33-year-old Louis Korkowski was last seen or heard from on May 4, 2020. His remains were discovered May 6.

Police have confirmed that remains found near Quesnel are those of a missing man.

The man was reported missing to the Quesnel RCMP after possibly being abducted on the evening of May 4, 2020, according to an RCMP release.

The remains were found in a rural area of Quesnel on May 6, and investigators have now confirmed they are that of Louis Korkowski.

Criminality is suspected in his death and investigators continue to seek information related to Louis' whereabouts leading up to the discovery of his body and two vehicles of interest.

"We strongly believe there are people who have information and have not already spoken to us," Staff Sgt. Todd Wiebe of the RCMP North District said in a release.

"If you have information which can assist in finding the person responsible for Louis' death, you are urged to call and speak to an investigator."

Korkowski is described as 5'4", 110 lbs. with short black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black track pants with a white stripe, blue jacket and black Mulisha sweater.

The vehicles of interest are a 2003 green Ford Explorer and a 2007 grey Toyota Matrix.

The B.C. license plate on the Ford is KF087R. It has a roof rack, black tinted windows, grey five prong rims, chrome body trim and a dent in the passenger door.

The Toyota has black paint and peeling damage to its roof and sticker residue on the passenger side door.

Both vehicles were last seen in the area of Sylvia’s Cafe, in the 5600 block of Nazko Highway, Quesnel just after 9:00 p.m. on May 4.

Anyone with information related to Korkowski's death or the two vehicles is asked to contact the Quesnel RCMP at 250-992-9211 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
