Record-breaking passenger numbers at Kamloops Airport

KAMLOOPS - Almost 102,000 people travelled through the Kamloops Airport in the first three months of this year compared to the same period in 2018.

The first quarter of 2019 saw a 8.9 per cent increase in passenger numbers when compared to 2018, a YKA media release says.

"We’ve been receiving higher numbers for almost the past year, but this is the first quarter of 2019 where each of those months have been higher than record numbers every month," airport managing director Ed Ratuski says.

January, February and March all broke records for number of passengers flying into Kamloops for both business and leisure.

Ratuski says it is in part due to the additional service to Calgary that began in May 2018, and continued through the winter.

"It’s been performing (well), all the flights have been performing really well in both directions to Calgary and Vancouver," he says.
