The 2025 federal election was exceptional for many reasons including the looming Trump threat south of the border.

The Liberals held onto power but narrowly as the Conservatives made gains although leader Pierre Poilievre lost in his own riding. The NDP was virtually wiped off the political map and leader Jagmeet Singh also lost in his riding.

Voter turnout is another reason why the election was exceptional.

Here are the numbers on voter turnout:

  • 73: Percentage of electors came out to vote in Okanagan Lake West-South Kelowna and Kamloops-Shuswap-Central Rockies.
  • 66: Percentage of voter turnout expected by Elections Canada for Okanagan Lake West-South Kelowna.
  • 71: Percentage of voter turnout in Similkameen-South Okanagan-West Kootenay.
  • 70: Per cent turnout in Kelowna.
  • 62: Percentage of voter turnout expected by Elections Canada for the Kelowna riding.
  • 69: Percentage of voter turnout in Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola.
  • 72: Percentage of voter turnout in Vernon-Lake Country-Monashee.
  • 67,093: Number of people who voted in Vernon-Lake Country-Monashee.
  • 63: Percentage  of the average voter turnout for the federal election in 2021.
  • 58: Percentage of the voter turnout for the BC election a few months ago.
  • 68: Percentage of eligible Canadians who voted in this federal election.
  • 19.5: Million votes cast.
  • 79.4: The percentage of the highest voter turnout in Canadian history in the 1958 federal election.
