SALMON ARM – Police have three suspects in custody in connection with an armed robbery in the Tappen area yesterday afternoon.
RCMP say a suspect walked into a business in the Tappen area, showed the store employee a gun and demanded money.
The suspect took off in a waiting gray pick-up truck, according to an RCMP media release. Witnesses were able to give police a detailed description of the getaway vehicle and the people inside.
An officer from the Salmon Arm detachment driving down Highway 1 toward Tappen in response to the 911 call spotted the suspect vehicle heading east in the downtown area.
Staff Sgt. Scott West says several police cars stopped the suspects at the intersection of Highway 1 and Alexander Street. Three suspects were arrested.
“Police recovered an undisclosed amount of money, stolen property and a firearm,” West says in the release. “The vehicle was also seized.”
West says a 27-year-old Kamloops man, a 36-year-old man from the Salmon Arm area and a 22-year-old Kamloops woman are in custody and facing charges.
