RCMP are investigating after a suspicious fire caused significant damage to the Canadian Tire in Vernon this past weekend.

Police responded to the blaze at around 3 a.m., Nov. 19, after receiving a request for assistance from firefighters on the scene of the blaze at Canadian Tire in the Village Green mall in the 4900 block of 27 Street, according to an RCMP media release issued today, Nov. 21.

"An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway and at this point, we have reason to believe it was deliberately set," Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Chris Terleski said in the release.
