Police are going to be on the Thompson Rivers University campus this week and through the weekend after someone made a threat.
Kamloops RCMP receive a report about an unconfirmed threat to the TRU campus just before 1 p.m. on March 26, according to a press release from police.
The Kamloops RCMP General Investigation Support Team and the Serious Crime Unit have been investigating the threat to determine whether it’s reliable. Police said threats can be made to cause disruption and achieve notoriety.
Police are working with the university’s safety services as the investigation continues.
“As part of a combined response, we are working with TRU Safety Services to have an increased presence in and around the campus over the next few days. We are asking people to remain vigilant, be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000,” Cpl. Dana Napier said in the release.
