The RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit  and B.C. Coroners service is investigating the cause of a suspicious death after the human remains was found in a home near Round Lake in the North Okanagan.

On July 30, shortly before 9:30 a.m., the North Okanagan Rural RCMP was called to a home situated along Emery Louis Road near Round Lake, after remains were found inside the home, according to the RCMP in a news release.

"Police believe that criminality was involved in the individual’s sudden death," states Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, spokesperson for the B.C. RCMP Southeast District, in the news release. Police officers don't believe there is a risk to the public.
