A large low pressure system moving across the Thompson-Okanagan region is expected to bring a wetter weekend than originally anticipated.

Environment Canada meteorologist Carmen Hart says the system will bring lines of showers into Okanagan and Kamloops region today, April 5, and more rain over the weekend. Hart says to expect showers off and on today, with heavier amounts falling overnight.

Hart says there isn’t a lot of precipitation expected with the system today and tonight, with 20 millimetres expected in the South Okanagan, five to 10 mm in the North and Central Okanagan, and up to five mm in Kamloops.

Saturday will start off dry, but showers are expected to move into the region in the afternoon, with more showers expected overnight and into Sunday.

Temperatures are expected to remain consistent through the weekend in the low teens along with a gusty wind.
