KAMLOOPS - Halloween will be here sooner than later, and there are multiple pumpkin patches you can check out to find the perfect squash to carve out.
Pick your own pumpkin at Sunset Valley Farm on Tranquille Road in Kamloops. While you're there, you and the family can check out a tractor ride, corn maze, zip-line or bouncy castle. The farm is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekends.
If you're all right with heading a bit out of town to find your perfect pumpkin, there are still plenty of options within a short drive.
Pumpkin season starts on Oct. 1 at Pete Murray's corn farm west of Chase. The patch is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. seven days per week. You can participate in either a wagon ride or walk to the patch, with the wagon leaving the yard at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
The ride includes a stop to feed the sheep to and from the patch, and the corn maze at the farm is also open on weekends.
Head to Vernon to find your pumpkin at Davison Orchards Country Village. You can take a family pumpkin tour, be greeted by the "Pumpkin Princess", and enjoy some refreshments.
Pumpkin patch tours are also available at Desert Hills Ranch in Ashcroft, where groups of little ones can come for a wagon ride and to pick the perfect pumpkin for them.
