KAMLOOPS - A public memorial service will be held for a former Kamloops city councillor who died after a long battle with cancer.
Marg Spina died in hospice last week after a year-long battle with breast cancer. She resigned as a city councillor earlier this year, when she called her cancer "incurable."
Spina's daughter posted on Facebook last week that her mother's memorial service will take place on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. at Cavalry Community Church on Rogers Way.
Spina's family is requesting in lieu of flowers, donations to the Kamloops Hospice or B.C. Interior Community Foundation specifying your donation to the Marg Spina Community Enhancement Fund.
Known as a trailblazer in the community, reaction poured in to the news of Spina's passing earlier this month including from former colleagues Kamloops Mayor Ken Christian and Coun. Arjun Singh.
