A well-known Special Olympics fundraiser has moved online this year and will be broadcast live this morning.

Motionball Marathon of Sport will be broadcasting its first ever virtual event, Sept. 26, featuring five-time Olympic medalist Tessa Virtue, according to a motionball press release.

The event starts at 10 a.m. on Sportsnet ONE with participants, athletes and the community tuning in on TV, or online. Community members can also tune into motionball Kelowna’s instagram @motionballKelowna for opening ceremonies starting at 9:30 a.m. and closing ceremonies at 11:30 a.m.

There is no cost for the event but donations are welcome as proceeds go towards the Special Olympics, according to the press release.

Motion ball has raised $13 million for the Special Olympics so far and hopes to raise $60,000 this year.
