Pop-up drive-in theatre coming to Kamloops this month

Kamloops residents can look forward to a blast from the past at the end of this month.

Local organizations have collaborated to launch a drive-in theatre experience June 25 to 27.

The drive-in is called Twin Rivers, and was organized by The Kamloops Film Society, Lee's Music, GK Sound, Tourism Kamloops and the City of Kamloops.

"It really was a no-brainer," Dusan Magnolan, Executive Director of The Kamloops Film Society said in a release. "We were a month into the pandemic and had started sourcing out the idea ourselves when we were approached by the rest of the group to collaborate. With that much enthusiasm for this fun new event idea, we knew we had to help make the vision a reality."

In line with provincial health and safety guidelines, social distancing protocol will be in place and the audience will be capped at 50 cars, with a maximum of six occupants.

The drive-in will be playing Trolls World Tour and Back to the Future.

If the first three days are a success, the drive-in may become a regular event.

The event will be held in the south-facing parking lot at the McArthur Island Sports Centre.

Tickets are available online only here.
