Police seize gun and drugs in Lake Country traffic stop

Officers in Lake Country pulled over a vehicle more than two weeks ago and seized a gun and drugs after arresting the driver and the passenger.

The vehicle was stopped on Woodsdale Road near Lodge Road in Lake Country on June 77, when an officer noticed it didn’t have valid insurance, according to an RCMP media release issued today, July 17.

The office saw evidence of drug consumption and spotted a handgun so the driver and passenger were arrested.

A search of the vehicle turned up a large quantity of cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, around $2,500 in cash and a loaded .45 calibre semi automatic pistol.

The suspects have been released from custody. No word from RCMP on what charges they are facing.

“We know the over dose crisis is not unique to the streets of any one town or city and police will continue to target and investigate those adding to the toxic drug supply,” RCMP media liaison Cpl. Ryder Birtwistle said in the release.
