VERNON - Infotel Multimedia and iNFOnews.ca - leaders in website development, online directories, digital marketing and local news - today, May 17, named Peter Boyd as its new president. Boyd, formerly vice president of sales and marketing, reports to CEO Bonnie Derry.

Boyd joined Infotel in August 2017 after a 22-year career with a major national retailer, where as district manager, he was responsible for operations of 42 stores in Western Canada. His introduction of new products and services has been instrumental in Infotel’s current growth.

Readership of the company’s local news throughout the Thompson-Okanagan and Nicola Valleys increased by 27 per cent in the past month alone and today garners up to 1.7 million page views per month, according to Derry.

“Peter’s experience and capabilities ensure that our customers have access to an array of digital marketing products and services that best meet their needs,” Derry said. ”We serve both those who live and work here and have a thirst for interesting and entertaining local news and businesses who want to reach that audience.”

Boyd is proud of Infotel’s history - 27 years of excellent service - and building thousands of customers. Infotel, originally known as the leading provider of telephone directories serving nearly a half-million residents in its markets, has in recent years focused on providing a full spectrum of online digital services and products that drive additional sales for local businesses. The iNFOnews.ca website delivers local news coverage and features to residents throughout the Thompson-Okanagan and Nicola Valleys.

“This isn’t your dad’s Infotel,” said Boyd “We are now the number one multi-media household brand in the Okanagan because we have evolved and innovated and we’ll continue to do that.”

He said Infotel’s performance this year is an indication of future growth. Boyd added that responsiveness to customer needs drives Infotel’s growth, citing as an example the company’s ability and willingness to develop websites for customers and finance them to greatly reduce customers’ upfront costs.

“We have more than 60 employees now, and we’re hiring top talent for positions in sales, web development and news,” said Boyd. “We want great people on the team who want a career not just a job.”

Derry said that if history is any indication, Boyd’s record bodes well, adding that he has increased sales at Infotel after leading nationwide sales for six consecutive years in his previous position.
