PENTICTON - A Penticton couple is $500,000 richer following a win in B.C. Lottery’s Daily Grand Draw.

Harald Naegel matched the five main numbers in the Feb. 14 Daily Grand Draw to win the $500,000 prize, according to a B.C. Lottery Corporation media release.

Naegel said his wife was first to find out about the win after checking the ticket at a local gas station.

He purchased the ticket at the Rocky Store on Haven Hill after dropping a number from his usual Lotto 6/49 picks to select his Daily Grand numbers.

“I couldn’t remember which of the six numbers I dropped for Daily Grand, so I actually had to check my ticket. I guess I picked the right one. My first thought was, life is goofy.” Naegel said.

“I’ve always dreamed of a small cabin in the woods somewhere and maybe a bit of travelling in the future. Helping people out is important to me. I might help my daughter go into business for herself,” he says of his plans for the win.

“Money doesn’t change the big things in life but it sure is helpful to have.”
