Penticton Cannery Trade Centre anniversary celebration on list of things to do this weekend

A celebration of 35 years of business takes place at the Cannery Trade Centre in Penticton on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from noon to 3 p.m.

PENTICTON - The 35th anniversary celebration for the hundreds of Penticton businesses that have called the Cannery Trade Centre home happens this weekend.

The celebration takes place tomorrow, March 23 from noon to 3 p.m. at the old Aylmers Cannery site, now the Cannery Trade Centre. The event celebrates the hundreds of Penticton small businesses that have worked out of the cannery. For more information, go to the Cannery Trade Centre website here.

The Osoyoos Desert Society Winter Program "Movie and an Expert" is all about the weird and wonderful world of frogs with the presentation of the David Attenborough documentary "Fabulous Frogs".

Stephanie Winton will be on hand to talk about frogs and other amphibians after the screening, which takes place tomorrow, March 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Watermark Beach Resort in Osoyoos. For more information, see the Osoyoos Desert Society website here.

The Weekend brunch wine and food pairing sessions continue at Jackson Triggs & Inniskillin Okanagan in Oliver tomorrow and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This isn’t your ordinary eggs and bacon kind of brunch as creative food bites are paired with the wines from Jackson Triggs and Inniskillin wineries. Cost is $35 each for an event not only tasty but educational as well. For more information see the Great Estates website here.

Penticton’s Wine Experience Centre Wine and cheese pairing takes place tomorrow and Sunday from noon to 1 p.m. at 21 Lakeshore Dr. This hour long session teaches the essential skills involved in assembling a truly harmonious wine and cheese pairing, sharing tricks of the trade to introduce you to these magical combinations of wine and cheese. The Wine Experience Centre is also hosting a series of wine and chocolate pairings tomorrow and Sunday at 3 p.m. on both days. The sessions kick off with a glass of sparkling wine followed by a look at the world of chocolate, fruit and South Okanagan wine to discover how these products enhance and contrast with one another. The Glengarry Figure Skating Club is holding a Roast Beef Dinner Fundraiser and Silent Auction at the Barley Mill for their upcoming ice parade in April. The dinner is being held Sunday at 5 p.m. at a cost of $20.
